India Post released a special cover to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, on the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) on Tuesday.
Though the cover has been designed in New Delhi, having the face of the Iron Man of India, its uniqueness lies in the special stamp of each postal circle. The cover was released by Lieutenant General Vipan Gupta, Commandant, ASC Centre and College, Major General N S Rajpurohit, DCCI, ACS Centre and College and Charles Lobo, chief postmaster general, Karnataka Circle.
Apart from philatelists, students, men and women from the armed forces took part in the event. A total of 1,000 special covers have been printed and are being sold at Rs 15 each.
