Terming the allegation about irregularities in the purchase of power during the BJP government in the State baseless, State BJP president B S Yeddyurappa has sought a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation or a sitting judge of the High Court to bring out the truth.

He told media persons here on Saturday that the Congress was making false allegation against the BJP, to hide its scams, when elections were nearing.

“Not a single rupee was misused in the purchase of power when Shobha Karandlaje was the energy minister. There was a plan to enter into a contract for purchasing power for 25 years. As it would have affected the state’s initiatives for generating more power, Shobha Karandlaje decided to purchase power based at the rate prevailing on the day” Yeddyurappa said. He said that the the BJP was ready to discuss the issue in the legislature session.

“Many leaders from other parties are ready to join the BJP and some MLAs are in contact with us. They will join the BJP after a month. They can be accommodated in those constituencies where the BJP lacks suitable candidates,” he noted.

Yeddyurappa noted that former minister C H Vijayashankar quit BJP for his own reasons, though the party did everything possible for him.

“We made him MLC, minister and president of Raitha Morcha state unit. We had asked him to contest in Assembly elections from any constituency of his choice in Mysuru district. But, he has his own reasons to quit the party,” he added.
