"What was JD(S) General Secretary H H Devaraj doing when the Karagada irrigation project was being carried out?" asked villagers Achyut Rao and others.

Devaraj had recently alleged that the Karagada project is of poor quality.

In a press statement, they said it was a known fact that the works are unscientific. However, the project was materialised after the consistent fights carried out by the members of Karagada Neeravari Horata Samiti Samiti. The project has reached a stage where the water could be supplied to Kalasapura and Belavadi lakes. The move by Devaraj commenting on the quality of the project at this juncture is surprising, the activists said in a statement, and called the response by the JD(S) leader an election gimmick, as he was silent when the works on the project were stagnant.

"Devaraj has also accused Congress leader M V Gayatri Shanthegowda, to be responsible for the poor works of Karagada project. In fact, Gayatri had made an effort to release the funds towards the project. She had also led a delegation to the chief minister. However, Devaraj has levelled a false allegation against Gayatri. He should release evidence to support his allegation. MLA C T Ravi has not made any effort to bring the funds," he charged.

The press statement is signed by Gangegowda, Ishwarahalli Srinivas, Basavanakodi Honnabovi, Amir, and Raghu.
