Rapido bike taxi is operating illegally: RTA

Bike taxi operator Rapido is operating illegally in the city without obtaining permission from Regional Transport Authority (RTA), said an RTA release on Tuesday.

In the special drive, RTA on Tuesday seized around 20 vehicles attached to Rapido.

J Gnanendra Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Transport, Bengaluru (Urban) said, “All the citizens are hereby alerted not to use this illegal Rapido bike taxi service.”

“A special squad has been formed to check the illegal operation of motor vehicles and to enforce provisions of Motor Vehicle Act and Rules in the jurisdiction of Joint Commissioner for Transport, Bengaluru (Urban) division and Bengaluru central
area.

During the drive, 794 vehicles have been checked and action has been taken against 115 motor vehicle owners. RTA has seized 14 vehicles, the release said.
