A pothole at Nayandahalli junction, which had led to the death of a woman on October 8, has reopened after a patchwork.
The BBMP and BMRCL have refused to take responsibility for the shoddy repair work.
While commuters are petrified to use this stretch, government officials have a lax approach towards the issue.
According to BBMP officials, the road was handed over to the BMRCL last year and the onus lies with them.
"We had not filled the pothole back then. Why would we fill it when the road was handed over to the BMRCL for the construction of the Metro rail in July 2016? It is their responsibility," N Manjunath Prasad, BBMP commissioner, told DH.
BBMP engineers claimed they have repeatedly asked BMRCL staffers to maintain the roads. "Many letters have been written, but in vain. Neither do we get any response from them nor are the roads improved. The BMRCL has to ensure the roads are motorable and safe," an engineer said.
Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar Maurya, Bangalore Metro's chief engineer, has assured that the potholes would be refilled on Monday.
Again, patchwork
"The bitumen has arrived and the potholes will be filled up, but only patchwork will be done for now. The final road repair work will only be undertaken after the Metro construction is completed. We are also planning to hand over the stretch between R R Nagar and Nayandahalli to the BBMP in the next 15 days," Maurya said.
The filling up of potholes is being undertaken in a coordinated effort between the BBMP and BMRCL, he added.
On October 8, Radha (47), who was riding pillion, was killed on the spot and the rider injured after they fell off their two-wheeler while trying to negotiate a pothole-ridden road at Pantharapalya near Nayandahalli. The woman was run over by an oncoming truck.
A week earlier, a deadly pothole on BGS flyover on the busy Mysuru Road claimed the lives of a couple and left their six-year-old granddaughter wounded.
