Germany ready for last-8 tussle

German coach Christian Wueck was ecstatic following his boys’ 4-0 rout of Colombia and called it their best performance in this edition of the under-17 World Cup.

“It was our best performance so far in the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Tonight we took it to the next level. We have progressed little by little in the group matches and we continue to do so. We are now at the level we want to see the team,” Wueck said.

He, however, felt the boys could have pumped in more goals. “I know it sounds crazy but we need to take more of our chances. Against Brazil or Honduras, we need to score more goals. We must score six or seven,” said Wueck.

“We have to be very good in defence and need to put in more quality into the attack.”

For Germany, their skipper Jann-Fiete Arp showed the way with a brace while Yann Bisseck and John Yeboah scored one each to complete the Colombian decimation.

“It was a hard game, rough game. It was a deserved victory for us. We knew Colombia are a very physical side and play a lot of long balls and high balls. We knew though we would get our chances if we were fast and quick to the tackles,” Wueck elaborated.
