ACB complaint filed against CM over denotification

BJP corporator N R Ramesh on Monday filed a complaint with the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) against Chief Minister Siddramaiah in the Bhoopasandra denotification case. The BJP leader alleged that on the instructions of the chief minister, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) misled the courts and illegally denotified six acres and 26 guntas of land in Bhoopsandra (RMV II Stage).

Last week, BJP MLC and former minister B J Puttaswamy had alleged that the lands denotified — 6.26 acres in survey numbers 20 and 21 in at Bhoopasandra in Bengaluru north taluk — benefited one Keerthi Raj Shetty, a close confidant of Siddramaiah. The complaint filed with the ACB stated that BDA had acquired the land in 1978 to form RMV II Stage layout.

The owner of the portion of a land, one Syed Bashid, had challenged the acquisition and both the High Court of Karnataka and the Supreme Court upheld the notifications. Further, the BDA had even carved out sites on the land and allotted it to 42 people. It was in 2016 that the owner of another portion of the land, Jayalakshmi moved the high court, challenging acquisition of the land. The single judge bench of the high court passed an order for denoitification in respect to the entire 6.26 acres of land.

The complaint stated that the BDA concealed the previous orders passed by the high court and the Supreme Court. Though the BDA filed an appeal challenging the single judge bench order in 2016, it was subsequently withdrawn. The complaint stated that it was on the instructions of the chief minister that the BDA withdrew its appeal. An order of denotification was then passed in respect of the entire 6.26 acres of land. The complaint stated that the denotification order under these circumstances resulted in a loss of Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer besides injustice to the land allottees.

"We have filed the complaint with all supporting documents. I am ready to hang if it is proved that the allegations are false. Let the chief minister resign if the documents are speaking the truth,'' Puttaswamy said after filing the complaint.
