Intermittent rains did not dampen the spirits of thousands of devotees, who gathered to have the darshan of the deity at Hasanamba temple on Friday.

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and family members purchased 10 tickets of Rs 1,000 value to have darshan of the goddess. The district administration, which has banned passes this year, had made it clear that any politician or dignitary who wants to get direct entry to the temple should purchase Rs 1,000 tickets.

So, Gowda family bought the tickets, even as Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri requesting them to have direct darshan.

Gowda, his wife Channamma, son H D Revanna, daughter Anasuya, Bhavani Revanna and grandchildren visited the temple, and performed special pujas.

It is said that the Gowda family was unhappy as the district administration declined permission to Bhavani Revanna to have the first darshan on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, Gowda said as a father, I have prayed to Hasanamba for the good health of Kumaraswamy. “If people wish, Kumaraswamy may again become chief minister,” he said.

Reacting to a question about Siddaramaiah returning to the JD(S), Gowda said, it is not right to speak lightly about him, who is in a responsible position.
