Films can play an important role in “exposing and eliminating” the menace of terrorism and radicalism, Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said.

Addressing the Global Film Tourism Conclave, organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Mumbai, Naqvi said that the Indian film industry has been playing an important role in eliminating various social ills, creating an atmosphere against various social problems and also towards bringing social reforms.

“Indian films have succeeded in delivering effective messages on social, cultural and reformist issues,” he said.

Naqvi disclosed that various locations of India have a special place for film shooting for filmmakers around the world. India is geographically, socially and culturally a rich and beautiful country. “In India, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Gujarat to northeast states, beautiful locations attract not only domestic but also foreign film makers to shoot their movies at these places,” the senior BJP leader said.

Naqvi said that the Central government and various state governments encourage filmmakers of the country and the world to make film in their areas.

“We should provide information to the entire world about these promotional programmes” he added.

Naqvi emphasised that India is full of all facilities, possibilities and resources to become the world’s “film tourism hub”.
