Showers throw life out of gear in many districts

Showers were reported from across the state on Sunday. Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed many places in Koppal taluk, including the city, bringing the temperatures down.

There was intermittent rain since morning and it intensified towards the evening. The canal near Kavalur breached, flooding crops.

It rained for more than half an hour in the twin towns of Gadag-Betageri. It has been raining here continuously for the last four days. Agriculture fields were flooded due to heavy downpour in Shirahatti taluk of the district.

Heavy rain lashed Kittur town and surrounding villages in Belagavi district. Showers accompanied by thunder and lightning lashed many parts of the district for over one hour. Drizzling was reported in the evening from Belagavi city, Gokak, Khanapur and Savadatti.
Rain accompanied by thunder and lightning was reported from the Malnad taluks of Sirsi and Siddapur in Uttara Kannada district. Moderate showers were reported from Honnavar, Kumta and Mundgod taluks. Ballari district too received heavy rain on Saturday night.

Intermittent rain lashed several parts of Shivamogga district. Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Sagar, Thirthahalli and Hosanagar received good showers.

Shikaripura and some parts of Sorab received moderate rain. The water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1,798.10 feet against the maximum level of 1819 feet.
Chitradurga city and various parts of the district received moderate to heavy rains in the evening. Water overflowed on the roads and clogged drains. People in low-lying areas of the city faced inconvenience.
