Yaduveer conducts Vijaya Yatre

Last Updated 30 September 2017, 18:39 IST
Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, member of the erstwhile royal family, took out a Vijaya Yatre on Vijayadashami on the Palace premises on Saturday. Seated in a silver chariot drawn by cattle, he went around the palace and offered banni puja at Sri Bhuvaneshwari Temple.

The people, who had already gathered in huge numbers on the premises, cheered and greeted him. Earlier on Friday, he offered Ayudha puja inside the Palace.

Quadcopter
A quadcopter was used to get updates on the Jamboo Savari and was seen hovering for more than five hours over the Palace and later on over the procession route. The drone was seen hovering above the dais where Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other dignitaries showered petals on the idol of Chamundeshwari atop the caparisoned howdah elephant, Arjuna. People were seen capturing pictures of the drone on their mobile phones.

Bitten by selfie bug
Most spectators seemed to be bitten by the selfie bug. Earlier people would fold their hands in respect when the howdah elephant carrying goddess Chamundeshwari’s idol passed by but this year, most were seen trying to capture a picture with the idol in the frame unmindful of the inconvenience caused to others standing nearby. As soon as the dignitaries showered the flower petals, cannons fired and the national anthem was played. But people were seen capturing selfie pictures with Arjuna in the backdrop, totally unmindful of the national anthem.
