Despite the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) issuing a strict warning to people not to climb on to heritage and old structures to witness Jamboo Savari, people could be seen on many such buildings along the Raja Marga, the route of the procession, on Saturday.

Police were seen trying to convince the people to get down from the buildings. Besides, people also climbed on to trees to get a glimpse of the Jamboo Savari. People were seen even on the dilapidated and partially collapsed Lansdowne building and Devaraja Market building.

Artiste falls ill
A folk troupe artiste from Karwar suffered chest pain when he was performing in the procession. When the troupe was about to exit the Palace premises, the artiste fell ill. He was rushed to the hospital in a Garuda police vehicle.

Entertainment galore
Corporator M S Balasubramania (Snake Shyam) and Sunil grabbed the attention of people by appearing in innovative costumes. While Balasubramania was dressed like Kannada actor Vishnuvardhan, Sunil was dressed like a ‘Pourakarmika’. Sunil was also seen clearing the garbage on the procession route while Balasubramania was entertaining people with dialogues from popular films.

Darkness disappoints
Many spectators were disappointed as they missed the opportunity to get a glimpse of the Dasara procession due to darkness. By the time the procession reached Highway Circle in the city, it was almost dark and there were no street lights there. Even a few tableaux had to be stopped near the circle due to darkness. People gathered there were seen blaming the MCC and the authorities concerned for the lapses.

Foreigners left awestruck
A large number of foreigners witnessed and enjoyed the Jamboo Savari. As compared to last year, this time the number of foreigners to witness the festivities had doubled.
Foreigners from more that 50 nations, including, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Netherlands, Nepal, Ghana, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uganda, Singapore, and South Africa, were part of the final leg of Dasara festivities.

City-based Kalpa Vruksha Trust had made seating arrangements for foreigners on the Ayurveda College premises. The trust, which has been making arrangements for foreigners for the past few years, provides drinking water and snacks, free of cost.

10 taken into custody
Police took 10 people into custody for allegedly misbehaving with women. According to N R Police, the culprits were harassing women spectators who were watching Jamboo Savari near Highway Circle. Police also warned another group of youth who were drunk and were creating nuisance near the Palace.
