Actor Sindhu Menon’s mother and her two relatives sustained injuries in a collision between a cab and an autorickshaw at Yeshwantpur Junction on Thursday afternoon.

Sridevi (65), Sindhu’s mother, and the relatives, Sukumaran and Mohan Kumar, both aged 55, were shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital for treatment. They are said to be out of danger.

The accident occurred at around 2.40 pm when the trio were on their way home at Malleswaram. The driver of the car jumped the signal. He was driving rashly and the cab hit the autorickshaw in which they were travelling near the police station, injuring the three.

In front of police station

Sindhu’s brother Manoj said the police did not come to their rescue though the accident occurred in front of the police station. “I received my mother’s call and rushed there. All the three were in the autorickshaw,” Manoj said.

The police refuted the charges and said they offered immediate help.
“Our men wanted to shift them to the hospital, but Sridevi said her son would come there soon to help them,” G A Jagadish, ACP (traffic) of Malleswaram sub-division, told DH.

Sridevi wasn’t willing to lodge a complaint. But the police have registered a case against the cab driver.

The police arrested the driver and seized the cab.
