Armando Christian Pérez, better known as Pitbull and 'Mr. Worldwide', is quietly showing the world what it means to be someone with a nickname like 'Mr. Worldwide' following the disaster caused by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
Pitbull is sending his private jet to Puerto Rico to take in cancer patients who need chemo and ferrying them to the United States for treatment. However, unlike those who would showcase something like this proudly on their social media, Pitbull has chosen to remain silent about his involvement.
The news came to light when Jenniffer González, who represents Puerto Rico in Congress, tweeted the following message to thank the rapper for intervening for the sake of patients who would otherwise have died.
Gracias al cantante @pitbull x prestar avión privado para trasladar pacientes de cáncer de PR a USA para q puedan tomar quimio @DeptSaludPR
— Jenniffer González (@Jenniffer2012) September 26, 2017
The message translates to "Thank you @pitbull for lending your private plane to move cancer patients from PR to the USA so that they can get chemo.".
The message caused significant praise to Pitbull for his generosity and humility, to which he had a simple response: "Thank God we’re blessed to help. Just doing my part".
The hurricane Maria, part of the triple major Hurricanes that have lashed the USA and surrounding territories back-to-back, has caused a near-total blackout in Puerto Rico, with only a handful of places having any electricity or means of generating it. This issue has already caused multiple deaths on the island.
Trump criticised
The US president Donald Trump was criticised on Twitter for the lack of participation into relief efforts to Puerto Rico.
Multiple people have come forward to openly mock Donald Trump for doing nothing for the island when Pitbull and entrepreneur/Shark Tank host Mark Cuban are busy mobilising every resource they can to help the people of the battered region.
Everybody calm down, Donald Trump isn't Pitbull. It's not as if he has a plane he can just load up with stuff for Puerto ... oh, right. pic.twitter.com/XWk7gOOpFk
