Week-long celebrations marking the 113th anniversary of the Hudson Memorial Church concluded on Sunday.

Located at the busy circle in front of the BBMP head office, the church was named after Rev Josaiah Hudson. It was established in 1904. The Sunday service saw at least 3,000 members of the church from around 1,300 families associated with it for years.

The service witnessed senior citizens of the church to the youngest of the parish taking part in the celebrations. “I thank God for giving me the chance to live until I could bring my grandchildren for the anniversary celebrations,” said Dorothy Phillips, who is 76-years-old and is one of the oldest members of the church.

Dorothy remembers representing the church in various competitions when she was young. She said that several things have changed over the years. “I still remember the installation of the mirror inside the church decades ago which has a painting of Jesus on it,” she said.

Talking to her niece at the service, Dorothy said, “I will never leave this church till death.”(sic)
