The Dharwad bench of the High Court of Karnataka on Friday granted interim stay on the FIR registered against Anand Appugol, the chairman of Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna Souharda Sahakari Society, Belagavi.
The assistant registrar of cooperative societies had lodged a complaint with Khade Bazaar police station in Belagavi on September 4, against Appugol and other members of the executive committee of the bank, accusing them of cheating the depositors by not returning their money. Appugol was arrested from Mumbai on September 17 and was produced before the court.
Meanwhile, Appugol had filed a writ petition in the high court seeking quashing of the complaint and FIR against him. A bench comprising Justice R B Budihal granted interim stay.
