Yaduveer keeps date with tradition at private durbar

‘Khasagi durbar’, an integral part of royal Dasara unfolded at the Mysuru Palace with Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, member of erstwhile royal family ascending the golden throne at the auspicious Dhanur Lagna at 12.53 pm on Thursday.

Yaduveer, clad in royal robes of gold and pink, purple turban, precious pearls and gem-studded jewellery, entered the durbar hall amid ‘Bahu Parak’ chanted by the royal guards at 12.04 pm. He performed Ganapathi and Kalasha puja guided by the priests. He performed puja to the golden throne at 12.30 pm by offering flowers as per customs. He ascended the throne after circumambulating it thrice as the police band played nadageethe of the royals ‘Kayo sri gowri’.

Yaduveer will conduct the private durbar for the third time, which will be held for the next 10 days for a select gathering. Yaduveer stood in saluting position for a few minutes on the throne as a mark of respect. The private durbar was held for about one hour.

The priests of the Palace temples, Chamundeshwari temple atop Chamundi Hill, Srikanteshwara temple in Nanjangud, Ranganathaswami temple of Srirangapatna offered tambula, teertha and prasad to Yaduveer. The durbar ended for the day at 1.22 pm, with the royal guards singing praises of the scion in Persian language.

Special pujas were performed on the premises to the Pattada Aane, Pattada Kudure and Pattada Hasu as per tradition at 11.15 am, before beginning the private durbar rituals.

Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife of late Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, biological mother Tripura Sundari Devi, Trishika Kumari, wife of Yaduveer, and invited guests, including Minister for Youth Empowerment and Sports Pramod Madhwaraj, were present.

Women belonging to Arasu clan performed special arathi to Yaduveer after the durbar. Trishika Kumari performed pada puja to Yaduveer.
