Karnataka State Universities Non-Teaching Employees Federation (KSUNEF) members on Thursday submitted a memorandum to 6th Pay Commission chairman M Srinivas Murthy requesting him to fix their salaries on a par with that of Central government employees.

Correct the disparity

Murthy asked them to meet the commission with valid documents on September 27.

“Central government non-teaching employees’ salaries are around 2.5 times our salaries. We want the 6th Pay Commission to correct the disparity by fixing our salaries on a par with the central government non-teaching employees,” KSUNEF general secretary B Srikanth told reporters.

Teaching and non-teaching staff are governed by the same set of rules. However, the age of retirement for teaching staff is 62, while the non-teaching staff retire at 60.

“In 2008, the Central government allowed state governments to fix UGC pay scales for non-teaching staff, but the state government has not implemented the direction,” he alleged.
