The entire examination process in all colleges across the state will go online shortly.

Based on the successful implementation of the online examination process at the Government College (Autonomous), Mandya, the Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) has convened a meeting of stakeholders next week to finalise the process.

M Ramegowda, assistant professor in Physics, from the college has been appointed as nodal officer to monitor the implementation of the online examination process.

The DCE had signed an agreement with a private software firm for the online system at the Mandya college for 2015-16, where 3,184 students successfully completed the examination process.

The online system

Students with over 75% attendance are allowed to appear for the exams. At present, lecturers consider the number of classes of four months of a semester engaged by teachers and the number of classes attended by a student to finalise attendance percentage to be displayed before the exams. Students get to know their attendance percentage only towards the end of the semester.

Under the new system, lecturers should enter the number of classes engaged by them and number of lectures attended by students at the end of every month. Each student will be allotted a login ID and a number.

The students can check their attendance percentage at the end of every month and make up for the shortage the following month.

As far as the exam process is concerned, details of the exam fee would be announced online before the start of exams. A challan for fee payment will be generated once a students clicks on his mobile number online. The student can take a printout, pay the fee at a post office and upload the payment receipt.

After this is done successfully, the student can download the exam hall ticket and take its printout. The student can directly walk into the exam hall with the hall ticket. Even results would be announced online after the evaluation process.
