'Capitalism has been exploiting people'

Last Updated 17 September 2017, 19:10 IST
While capitalism has been exploiting the people, the governance has not been able to provide job and other facilities to the deserving, opined Dr Kiran Gajanur, lecturer at Kuvempu University, Shivamogga.

He was speaking after inaugurating the 13th district conference of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) at Shanthi Kiran in Bajjodi, Mangaluru, on Sunday.

“Efforts are being put in by the religion mafia to make the people think that the deeds of their earlier births are the reasons for the current fate, which is wrong. The people should not fall into this trap. The youth should not confine themselves to social networking sites. They should, instead, form a social movement to fight against unemployment and other social inequalities,” he suggested.
Deyi Baidethi’s insult condemned

Speaking on the occasion, DYFI state president Munir Katipalla said that the recent incident insulting Deyi Baidethi, mother of historic twin heroes of Tulunadu Koti-Chennayya, is condemnable. However, the act of cleansing the statue of Deyi, too is not correct.

He further said that the legend of Koti-Chennayya, who pioneered the social movement against racial discrimination, needs to be taken forward. Their history should be included in the syllabus of universities.

DYFI district secretary Santhosh Kumar Bajal, leaders Asha Boloor, Dayanand Shetty and SFI leader Nithin Kuttar were present.
