Adventure gear maker Woodland is set to launch new product ranges, including accessories like umbrellas, sunglasses and innerwear.

The company is looking at announcing a formal launch of this new range by October.

In an interaction with DH, Harkirat Singh, Managing Director of the company said, “Currently, Woodland is working on several product lines. Woodland range of umbrellas and sunglasses are already in stores. In the pilot phase currently, they are awaiting a pan-India launch.”

The company, with its two brands -- Woodland and WOODS -- clocked Rs 1,200 crore in revenues last year and it is hoping to grow at 15% this year.

Woodland recently launched its range of backpacks. Asserting that the opportunity here is encouraging, Singh said, “Our USP remains the same -- lifetime guarantee -- as they are made in one of the best factories in the world. The backpacks are produced at our own plants to ensure that there is no compromise on quality, with fabrics coming from Korea, Japan, and zippers from YGK.”

Another product range that the company sees potential in, is its innerwear range. “As a brand, we work on products that work well in an outdoor or activity-based environment, so we have made sure that out inner-wear range adheres to these standards. We have used technical materials, which make them suitable for all seasons and anti-microbial,” he said, adding, “We see a good market opportunity here.”

The company has earmarked Rs 50-60 crore as capex this year, which it will invest in technology and entering new markets. Stating that entry into the US may not be the company’s priority, the African markets are the focus as of now, he indicated.
