The Bagalgunte police are awaiting swab reports from MS Ramaiah Hospital to confirm if the the four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a security guard at her school in North Bengaluru on Tuesday.

"We have sought results of the swab test which would take at least four to five days according to doctors, but we have asked them to speed it up," a senior police officer told DH.

Meanwhile, a police team is analysing the CCTV footage of the last 10 days to check for any evidence. “We have analysed three days’ of footage so far, and we analyse the rest till we can get to talk to the victim,” said the officer.

Though she has recovered from her fever and vomiting, she still looks unwell as she was exposed to policemen, crowds and hospital on Tuesday, added the officer. The police will approach her when she is in a proper state of mind.

The LKG student of a private school in T Dasarahalli, on Tuesday, complained to her mother accusing one of the security guards of inappropriately touching her pants. Her mother took her to the doctor and later filed a police complaint.

The police, based on the complaint, showed photographs of all the five security guards of whom the victim identified one of them. The police found no evidence against the guard after they reviewed the CCTV footage.

They found that the victim's movement was recorded throughout the day, but the guard was nowhere seen around her. The parents then took the victim to MS Ramaiah Hospital for a detailed medical examination.

The swab report will confirm if there was an assault. Based on this, appropriate action would be taken, a senior police officer said. The school functioned as usual on Thursday, the police added.
