Telugu Doctor stabbed to death in Kansas City of USA

A 57-year old medical professional Dr Achyut Reddy from Nalgonda district of Telangana was stabbed to death at East Wichita in Kansas City of the United States of America on Wednesday evening.

Kansas is the same place where a Telugu techie Srinivas Kuchibhotla was shot dead in February this year, in a hate crime.

According to reports reaching here on Thursday, the doctor was stabbed at around 7.30 pm local time at his holistic clinic at 625 N Carriage Parkway, near Central and Edgemoor in Wichita in Kansas.

A 21-year-old man, later identified as Umar Rashid Dutt was arrested near Wichita Country Club on suspicion of killing Dr Reddy.

Wichita police have confirmed that Reddy has died after being stabbed multiple times and the stabbing occurred around 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The police upon their arrival found the victim, behind the building. Eye witnesses said that the victim and Dutt were seen going to the clinic together. The manager told police she heard a disturbance and found Dutt assaulting the doctor. Reddy tried to leave, but Dutt followed him and stabbed him numerous times in the office’s alley.

At 7:40 p.m., a security guard at the country club called police after seeing a man sitting in a car with blood on him, the police said but could not clarify why Dutt drove there or why the assault occurred.

Reddy, who hails from Sitarampuram village of Miryalguda town in Nalgonda district, had completed his MBBS in Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad in 1986.

He later moved to the US and completed his residency in psychiatry from the University of Kansas Medical School in Wichita and had been practising there as a psychiatrist since 1989.

He was running the Holistic Psychiatric Services in Wichita, apart from being affiliated to various hospitals in the region. He is survived by his wife Beena Reddy and three children Radha, Lakshmi and Vishnu, besides his parents Bhadra Reddy and Parijata.
