JOIN US Nine people, including three children, were killed on the spot and a man was seriously injured in a head-on collision between a car and a lorry at Arabail Ghatta in taluk on Wednesday.
The deceased have been idenitified as Vivek Vasanth Ghatge (34) of Raibag of Chikkodi in Belagavi district, his wife Menaka (28), children Vivek (5) and Varadaraj (2), Renuka Chandrakantha Kamble (30), Abinav Chandrakantha Kamble (3), Sachin Madhukar Jandenavar (28), Gowravva Vasanth Metri (58) and car driver Mujahid Iqbal Nayakawadi (27). Gajanan Bapu Metri (27), who is seriously injured in the accident, has been admitted to Kims in Hubballi.
They had been to Kukke Subrahmanya and were returning to their place. Vivek Vasanth Ghatge and some people in the car were the relatives of former MLA Sham Ghatge.
