Deputy Commissioner Rohini Sindhuri on Wednesday warned that henceforth, corrupt officials will not be punished only by issuing suspension orders but will be dismissed permanently.

Speaking at the Revenue Adalat in Hassan, the DC pointed out that three revenue officials who had changed the khata illegally at Belur have been suspended. If the public have any information about such irregularities from anywhere in the district, they should bring it to her notice, Rohini said.

She said that about 70% of disputes related to the Revenue department were received by her office. It shows the negligence of the officials at the taluk levels, she said.

Rohini informed that a meeting of Tahsildars, Village Accountants and Panchayat Development Officers will be held at the DC’s office on October 7. The respective officials should address the existing land registration issues coming under their limits by then. Otherwise, they will have to face the consequences, she warned.

Assistant Commissioner H L Nagaraj said that attempts should be made to solve issues through mediation. They can approach the Assistant Commissioner’s court for those issues that cannot be sorted out, he suggested.

Farmers are being made to run from pillar to post to get their pahani and correction of names in khata. The Revenue department is technologically advanced providing 360 types of services for the benefit of farmers. But still, they have been denied the facilities, Nagaraj said.

On the occasion, the DC distributed cheques and Sandhya Suraksha cards to 26 beneficiaries.
