The High Court of Karnataka on Monday directed BBMP to hear the plea of the residents around Sivananda Circle with regard to their land being acquired to construct the proposed steel bridge.

Justice A S Bopanna, disposing of the petition filed by G N Laskhsmipathi, L Ramprakash and L Gopinath, directed BBMP to hear their matter and take action according to the land acquisition rules.

The bench also directed the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to implement TDR according to the revised TDR scheme and in keeping with the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.

The petitioners had moved the court contending that their property located on Hare Krishna Road is being forcibly taken over by the BBMP and their contractors in an arbitrary manner. The BBMP has proposed to construct a steel flyover for a distance of 1.5 km at the Sivananda Circle.

The petitioners sought directions to consider their representation with respect to land acquired in 2009 and to issue TDR or compensation according to the present rules.
