Madras High Court dismisses plea seeking to restrain AIADMK GC meeting

Last Updated 11 September 2017, 08:36 IST
In a major set back to TTV Dhinakaran's faction, the Madras High Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by rebel MLA seeking to restrain the unified AIADMK's  general council meeting, organised by chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

In addition, the court also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh on Perambur legislator P Vetrivel, the petitioner and a staunch supporter of Dhinakaran.

When the case came up for hearing Justice C V Karthikeyan came down heavily on the Vetrivel saying that how come the legislator could file the suit against the MLAs and ministers without the consent of the chief justice in accordance to a circular issued by the court recently.

Stating that if the petitioner does not want to attend the meeting he can be at home, the Judge said the legislator could not allow filing such litigation, which is an individual issue.
