'We will move court if TN govt fails to convene assembly for floor test' : DMK

The Opposition leader of the House and DMK working president M K Stalin on Sunday said that his party would approach the court if the Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao fails to order the chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for conducting floor test in the Assembly within a week
 
Stalin's statement came soon after he led a team comprising Congress leaders and called on the governor to submit a letter seeking floor test immediately.
 
"You took an oath that you will save and protect the Constitution. Therefore, at this juncture you need to convene the assembly immediately without any further delay", the memorandum, which was given to the governor, said.
 
It said it is necessary to convene the assembly when doubts were raised that the government fell short of a majority. Soon after meeting the governor, Stalin claimed that the Palaniswami government have the support of only 114 MLAs.
 
"Therefore, of the 233 legislators in the House, the rest 119 MLAs were against it", he added.
 
"If the governor fails to direct the chief minister to prove his government's strength in the Assembly, we will move the court to get justice", Stalin said.
