Yogaraj Bhat to move court against 'Dana Kayonu' producer

Kannada film director Yogaraj Bhat has decided to move the court against film producer Kanakapura Srinivas Srikanth over financial settlement for the movie Dana Kayonu (2016). Sources said the producer had finalised a deal with Bhat for Rs 68 lakh for directing the movie.

The movie bombed at the box office. Bhat approached the Film Chamber seeking relief. “I had a discussion with the director and the producer about three weeks ago and the producer agreed to pay,” Sa Ra Govindu, president of KFCC, told DH.

During the meeting, Bhat agreed to reduce his charges and settled for Rs 23 lakh. The producer signed a document, promising to tender two cheques for Rs 11.50 lakh each, favouring Bhat. However, he did not fulfil the promise.

“It is wrong on the producer’s part to have broken his promise, despite signing a document. He is not responding to the chamber’s instructions. Bhat has every right to move the court,” Govindu added.
