Several people, mostly working professionals, were stranded on the city's roads for hours as rain wreaked havoc, leaving most roads flooded.

One of them, Neha Parmar, said, “It took 30 minutes to cross 500 metres from Ejipura signal towards Domlur.” Kirron Bindu, working with a private firm, took to Twitter to express his anger. “I was stuck in a four-km-long traffic jam. Many fallen trees, burning electric transformers, ripped electric wires were all I could see on my way. It is hell to travel on flooded streets,” he tweeted.

Koramangala 4th Block, yet again, topped the list of severely waterlogged areas with sewage water entering homes. Bikes and cars were submerged as the water level rose four feet. “This time, it is the sewage water that entered our homes,” said Nalini Sarathy, a resident of Koramangala.

A car was damaged after a huge tree fell on it on 20th Main, JP Nagar 2nd Phase. Another tree fall in Chamarajpet damaged a house.

Indiranagar, Mysuru Road, KR Market, MG Road, Vittal Mallya Road, HSR Layout Nagawara, Hebbal and BEL Layout were also flooded.

Expressing her ire, another resident of Koramangala, Parvathi Sharma said, “There are no experts in BBMP. Either we have to request the government to appoint some private experts who can give a permanent solution or we need to appoint these experts ourselves.” Area corporator Chandrappa, said, "We have been building two retaining walls on the SWD. But intermittent rains are coming in our way. We will finish it at the earliest."

Damaged vehicles
Mysuru Road was waterlogged from Town Hall to KR Market, causing a traffic jam on the entire stretch. A number of trees were also uprooted on this road. A few cars and bikes stopped midway as water entered their engines in Shantinagar, Anand Rao Circle, Ali Asker Road, Srinagar and Sheshadripuram.

Bangalore Development Minister K J George received complaints at the BBMP control room from 8.15 pm to 9.20 pm about tree falls, flooding, water entering houses and choked manholes. He directed the forest wing of the BBMP to clear the uprooted trees at the earliest. Mayor G Padmavathi was also in the control room and received complaints till 10 pm after which she made city rounds to inspect the Sheshadripuram underpass, where Varun, a 18-year-old boy is said to have been washed away. She faced the ire of local residents.
