Suchetana Swaroop takes charge as CIC

Suchetana Swaroop assumed charge as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) on Tuesday.

He was administered oath by Governor Vajubhai R Vala at Raj Bhavan. Swaroop was already working as the information commissioner when he was elevated to the top post on August 21.

The post of CIC was vacant since November 2016 after IAS officer D N Narasimha Raju resigned. The CIC, whose tenure is five years, receives salary on par with high court judges.
