Congress MLC Raghu Achar on Friday denied charges that he submitted false information to vote in the 2016 Bengaluru mayoral election.
Achar claimed travel allowance from a Chitradurga address while being registered as a voter in Bengaluru the city limits, according to a BBMP report submitted to the Election Commission.
“My permanent address is Bengaluru and I have a temporary address in Chitradurga. I didn’t have to enroll myself in the Bengaluru electoral roll because I’ve been on the roll since 2014,” Achar said.
“The BBMP report is wrong and I will challenge it,” he added. Achar claimed that Legislative Council chairman D H Shankaramurthy had given him a clean chit.
