Less talk, more action, Venugopal tells ministers

AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal on Thursday held a meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his ministerial colleagues at the Clarks Exotica resort near Devanahalli in Bengaluru Rural district.

Venugopal, who was in the city to hold a fresh round of talks with the party rank and file ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections, exhorted the ministers to ensure proper coordination between the party and the government. It was an exhausting day for the party as Venugopal held marathon review meetings.

Venugopal is learned to have fixed specific responsibilities to ministers for preparing the party to face the Assembly election. The ministers were asked to camp in districts that they are in charge of as frequently as possible and ensure the Siddaramaiah government’s achievements are disseminated among the public.

The message was clear: It is an election year and the party had to get its on-ground machinery going. Venugopal told the ministers to be responsive to the feedback from party workers, who will fan out across the state visiting households to extol the performance of both the party as well as the government.
