A team of JD(S) leaders led by H D Kumaraswamy, who is now touring Israel, met Israeli biologist and recipient of Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Dr Aaron Ciechanover, in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

The team, which is in Israel to study model agricultural practices, has invited Ceichanover to Karnataka, to visit the medical research institutes in the state.

The JD(S) team, comprising MP C S Puttaraju, MLCs Basavaraj Horatti and Appaji Gowda and former vice chancellor K S Rangappa, landed in Israel on August 26. So far, they have visited various farms both in Haifa and Jerusalem to study the drip and micro irrigation methods, aside from dairy and cotton farming methods.

The GuangDong University, Technion Extension, has been imparting the technical knowhow to the team. The team will also meet agriculture experts and progressive farmers, before heading back to Bengaluru on September 3.

Kumaraswamy had recently said he will incorporate innovative farming methods followed in Israel in his party’s manifesto for the next Assembly elections.
