In a spine-chilling incident of sheer cruelty, a mother flung her differently-abled daughter from their fourth floor home, twice, killing her instantly. The incident took place in Jaraganahalli in JP Nagar in Bengaluru on Sunday.

The perpetrator of the crime is 36-year-old Sathi Sarkar alias Swathi and the deceased is Ishika, Swathi and Kanchan Sarkar's daughter.

The incident was first noticed by the neighbours when they heard a loud thud outside and went to find Ishika lying in a pool of blood, but alive. Soon after, Swathi came down from the house and picked Ishika up. The initial ease the neighbours felt at the sight was soon shattered when Swathi threw Ishika down a second time, finally killing the young girl.

One of the neighbours said that they thought that Ishika fell down accidentally after losing balance, and asked why Swathi wasn't going to a hospital to have Ishika checked, to which Swathi screamed that the girl was mentally unstable, before taking her up and throwing her down again.

Seemingly unconcerned with the crime she had just committed, neighbours reported that they saw Swathi climb down 15 minutes later, having changed her dress. When she attempted to flee from the scene, they grabbed her and tied her to the nearby electric pole. Police arrived shortly after and arrested Swathi on the charge of murder.

Swathi and Kanchan are separated but he was providing monetary assistance to her and Ishika. Police expect to undertake a psychiatric test on Swathi per their investigation.
