Showers bring glee in coast, Malnad

 Heavy rainfall was experienced in different parts of the state, including the capital, on Sunday.

Intermittent showers continued to lash Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
The water level in rivers Netravathi, Kumaradhara and Phalguni has increased as a result.

A youth went missing after a fishing boat capsized near Hejamady in Udupi. The missing person is Tarun Puthran (26), a resident of Hejamady. Eight fishermen were on board when the mishap occurred. Due to heavy rains coupled with gusty winds, a huge wave hit the boat.

Three fishermen namely Tarun, Priyank and Bharath fell into the water. Though Priyank and Bharath were rescued, Tarun has gone missing.

Kodagu district experienced a good spell of rainfall. Madikeri, Napoklu, Bhagamandala, Sampaje and Talacauvery received intermittent rain. The water-level in the River Cauvery has increased slightly.

NR Pura, Mudigere, Balehonnur, Sringeri and Kalasa in Chikkamagaluru district received moderate rainfall.

Heavy showers were reported from Uttara Kannada district as well. It rained from morning to evening in Bhatkal, Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola and the district heaquarters of Karwar. Moderate showers were reported from other parts of the district.

There was downpour in different parts of Hosapete taluk in Ballari district. Sowing activities have intensified in the villages of the taluk. There was heavy rush of tourists at the heritage town of Hampi despite the showers. Visitors also made a beeline to the Tungabhadra dam near Hosapete.
