Workers of transport corporations to support B'luru Chalo

Last Updated 23 August 2017, 20:33 IST

The workers of four state transport corporations have decided to join the ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ called by All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) planned on September 4 to press for their demands.

KSRTC Staff and Workers Federation, which is affiliated to AITUC, will put forth several demands, including the nationalisation of all the road networks in the state, said a letter signed by federation’s secretary H V Anantasubba Rao.

The letter urged the government to merge KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC under a single corporation and provide budgetary allocation for the same.

It also sought tax exemption for state road transport corporations and urged the government to compensate for the losses suffered due to concessions extended to the students and others.

As part of Bengaluru Chalo, there will be a march from Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna railway station to Freedom Park where the protesters will stage a sit-in.
