Photo exhibition shows city before and after Metro

Last Updated 21 August 2017, 22:13 IST

‘Good, Bad and Ugly of Namma Metro,’ an exhibition capturing the impact of Metro rail project on the garden city’s landscape began on Monday.

Works of photo-journalist K Venkatesh, displayed at the expo, represent the best and the worst of the cosmopolitan city, which, he says, became a “victim of its own success.”

Even as he recognises Metro’s success in providing seamless journey between the four corners of the city, Venkatesh’s works showcase the lifeline’s “awkward-looking” stations and hundreds of pillars that he describes as “an eyesore in the middle of congested roads”.

The photos put in perspective the mega project and question the reshaping of the city and replacing its old buildings with monstrous structures that claimed many age-old trees and invaded lung spaces.

The exhibition, which is on at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, was inaugurated by Bengaluru Development Minister K J George.
