JOIN USThe Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Friday directed the UP government to file a counter-affidavit within six weeks on a public interest litigation seeking a judicial probe into the death of 30 children at the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.
The petition, which was filed by social activist Nutan Thakur, contended that the ongoing probe into the tragedy was a sham and that nothing would come out of it.
The matter will come up for further hearing on October 9.
The government counsel opposed the petition saying the state government has taken every possible measure in the matter and will take all possible actions as per the report submitted by the chief secretary.
The petitioner said the action taken by the state government so far gives the message that they are trying to hide facts and shield some people.
