CID grills Santosh in Meti's sex scandal

Last Updated 17 August 2017, 20:37 IST

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sleuths on Thursday interrogated BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa's relative nd personal assistant N R Santosh in connection with a sex scandal involving former minister H Y Meti.

While analysing the call details records of Santosh's mobile phone, it came to light that he was in constant touch with RTI activist from Ballari, Rajashekhar Mulali, who had released to the media a CD purportedly showing Meti in a compromising position with a woman.

The CID had slapped notice on Santosh to appear before it. Santosh turned up at the CID office around 11 am and was interrogated for about three hours.

"Santosh claimed that he was in no way connected with the sex scandal and attempts are being made to fix him in the case," a senior police officer said quoting Santosh.

Santosh admitted that he knew Mulali for the last five years. He claimed that Mulali was close to former ministers B Sriramulu and G Janardhana Reddy and he came in contact with him through the duo. He would often be in touch with Mulali to organise BJP events in Ballari, Santosh told the police.

Santosh also claimed that he did not have any other relationship, including business, with Mulali, the officer added.

Subash, a former gunman of Meti, and his associates had trapped the former minister. Subash had filmed Meti's alleged sexual act in a government guest house. Subash was in touch with Santosh after he recorded Meti's act. Santosh, Subash and Mulali were in touch with each other since June 2016, the police said.
