Confusion reigned supreme at the inaugural ceremony of Indira Canteen at Kanakanapalya. Many senior Congmen and VVIP pass-holders were forced to sit among the public as many local residents and politicians of lesser stature had occupied seats marked for VVIPs.

Senior Congress leader and MP Oscar Fernandes was seen sitting among members of the public. Bengaluru Development Minister K J George brought him to the dais after someone brought to his notice.

Before the start of inaugural ceremony, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad was stopped by the Special Protection Group (SPG) quoting security reasons in the wake of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s visit.

Prasad, who wanted to inspect the Kanakanapalya canteen before Rahul Gandhi’s arrival, was prevented from entering the canteen. Minister George came to his rescue. The minister explained to the SPG officers that Prasad was the BBMP Commissioner and that they could let them inside the canteen.
