Bescom flooded with complaints

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (Bescom) received 10,274 complaints from Monday midnight till 5 pm on Tuesday.

Bescom resolved and abandoned 9,535 complaints till 6 pm, including feeder faults, transformer bursts, power cuts, line disruption, tree falls and broken poles.

Complaints poured in from areas like Shanthinagar, Richmond Circle, Puttenahalli, J P Nagar, KR Layout, Vinayaka Nagar, Silk Board junction, Kodichikkanahalli, Teachers Colony, Indiranagar, Venkatapura, Domlur 2nd Stage, Halasuru, Jogupalya, Whitefield, Jeevan Bima Nagar, Millers Road, Ramaiah Layout, Old Mill Road, R T Nagar, Vijayanagar, Channasandra, Hosahalli, Bannerghatta, Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, Banashakari III Stage and surrounding areas.

Twelve complaints of broken poles were reported from Adugodi, St John’s Hospital and National Games Village area. Eight tree fall complaints were reported from Amarjyothi station and five from HAL and NGEF stations.

Energy Minister D K Shivakumar said problems were being attended to. “We have pressed many men and machines to work round the clock to resolve the issues and restore electricity. The staff has been directed to attend calls and even give a feedback.
