Two die in wall collapse in WB

Though the incessant downpour eased a little on Monday in north Bengal, two persons died after a mud wall collapsed in Gangarampur area.

However, the flood situation continued to remain grim across the entire region.

Train services to the Northeast from the rest of the country, which passes through a vast stretch of north Bengal, have been completely suspended till Wednesday due to floods and waterlogging on railway tracks in West Bengal and also in neighbouring Assam and Bihar.


North Bengal-bound trains and buses from Kolkata have also been suspended due to inundated tracks and waterlogging on major thoroughfares, including National Highways 31, 31D, 55 and 512.

it. The river swelled above danger level after release of water from Bhutan, officials said.

Hundreds of trucks are stranded near Panjipara in North Dinajpur district due to flooding in Kisanganj in Bihar, officials said. “The Atreyee river in flowing above the extreme danger level near Balurghat and has already inundated several parts of NH 512, halting all vehicular movement.
