India Today managing editor Supriya Prasad is new president of BEA

 Managing editor of Aaj Tak and India Today Supriya Prasad has been elected as the new president of the Broadcast Editors Association (BEA).

Arnab Goswami of the Republic TV and Dibang of the ABP News were elected as vice-presidents of the association.

“The Broadcast Editors Association (BEA), at its general body meeting held on August 14, 2017, unanimously elected Supriya Prasad (Managing Editor of Aajtak and India Today) and Ajit Anjum as its President and General Secretary respectively. Dibang (ABP News) and Arnab Goswami ((Republic TV) were elected as Vice-Presidents and Ajay Kumar as Treasurer,” the BEA said in a communique on Monday.

A 15-member executive committee was also constituted following the election of the office –bearers, it added.

“The newly elected president (Supriya Prasad) thanked the outgoing team and appreciated the contribution made by it during its tenure. He also exhorted the new team to work for improving the role of electronic. news media so as to make it more and more public- oriented,” the BEA said.

Anjum highlighted the need for expansion of the BEA by the inclusion of editors of the regional channels.

“For this purpose, a three-member subcommittee was constituted with Sanjeev Paliwal , Rahul Kanwal and Sanjay Bragta as its members,” it added.
