The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday directed Shamshad Ahamed, owner of the coffee shop located on Fifth Avenue on Brigade Road, to return the payment made to him as advance by Abdul Karim Telgi, prime accused in the multicrore fake stamp papers.

A division bench, comprising Justice Ravi Malimath and Justice John Michael Cunha, directed Ahamed to pay the advance amount of Rs 25 lakh with an interest at 16% from the year 2010.

Ahamed had approached the court with a criminal appeal challenging the CBI notice asking him to return the amount as Telgi had made the payment from the gain he got from illegal trade.
Telgi was interested in buying the coffee shop on Fifth Avenue on Brigade Road and had paid the advance amount to Ahamed. However, he was arrested before he could make the full amount.
The bench directed Ahamed to return the advance amount to the state government.
