'Bellandur Kere Habba' today

 To bring communities back to the lake, citizens living near the Bellandur lake are organising the first ‘Bellandur Kere Habba’ on Saturday.

The event is being organised by the Bellandur Lake Group (Bellandur Rising) and Citizens Committee and will be held on the open plot behind Orchid Lake View apartment. The idea is to create awareness about the lake and enlighten the public on the rejuvenation works being implemented.

A variety of activities such as fitness workouts, gardening and discussions, have been planned to cater to everyone’s interest. Visitors can take part in a nature walk, cycling, running, zumba and yoga, between 7 am and 9 am. Gardening and photography workshops, street plays, flash mobs and other cultural events will also be held.

At 11 am, there will be a discussion on lake with stakeholders, elected representatives and government officials. Prof T V Ramachandra from the Indian Institute of Science, Seema Garg from the Karnataka Lake Conservation and Development Authority, Lakshman, chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, corporators Asha Suresh and T Ramesh and Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar, are some of the participants in the discussion.

There will be activities for children which includes seed-ball making and, also a tree plantation drive has been planned.
