Godavari swells as heavy rains lash Nashik

The pilgrimage town of Nashik received heavy downpour over Friday and Saturday resulting in water gushing in low lying areas including the Ramkund-Panchvati area, one of the important places of pilgrimage.

The Godavari river wore a swelled look as Nashik and the catchment area of Gangapur dam received heavy rainfall.

On Saturday evening there was some let up from rains and water levels were receding.

This is the third time this monsoon that the Panchvati-Ramkund are got flooded. In the area, there are over 100 small and big temples.

The neighbouring talukas and towns of Trimbakeshwar, Igatpuri, Niphad too received heavy rainfall.

According to Skymet Weather, for the next 24 hours, North Madhya Maharashtra will see some light to moderate rains over places like Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nashik, Thane, Jalgaon and Malegaon may see scattered rains.
