Head constable assaults Metro guard, booked

A head constable has been booked for assaulting and threatening a security guard at Hosahalli Metro station on Friday night.

Veeranna, the head constable attached to HAL traffic police station reportedly kicked Gajanand Bheemappa Kilari, a guard with a private security agency working at the Metro station and injured him in his private parts. Kilari is being treated at Gayatri Hospital for injuries he sustained in the attack.

According to BMRCL workers, the incident occurred around 8.40 pm. Veeranna entered the station in an inebriated state. He directly rushed to the ticket counter without undergoing security check.

The staff stopped him and picked an argument with him. The station controller rushed to the spot after hearing the commotion. The constable abused the staff and the controller and tried to reach the ticket counter.

“Kilari tried to block Veeranna. However, Veeranna pushed Kilari and kicked him on his private parts. Kilari collapsed on the floor after the attack,” said a guard.

Vijayanagar police rushed to spot on being informed and took Veeranna to the police station. During questioning, it came to light that he was the head constable with a traffic police station.
