St Joseph's bag a grand double

St Joseph’s Boys’ High School claimed a double as they clinched the under-16 and under-14 titles at the Cottonian Shield cricket tournament here on Friday.

In the under-16 final, Joseph’s, batting first after winning the toss, posted a reasonable total of 144 for six in 20 overs against Ebenezer International School Bangalore (EISB). Daanish top-scored with 49, while Chinmay chipped in with a valuable knock of 42. Paras (2/19) and Bhuvan (2/23) shared two wickets apiece for EISB. EISB then made a mess of their chase to fold up for 114 in 18.4 overs. .

The under-14 final was a low-scoring affair with Joseph’s scoring 126/7 and then restricting hosts Bishop Cotton Boys’ School to 112/5.

Brief scores: Final: Under-16: St Joseph’s Boys’ High School: 144/6 in 20 overs (Daanish 49, Chinmay 42; Paras 2-19, Bhuvan 2-23) bt Ebenezer International School Bangalore: 114 all out in 18.4 overs (Aryan 33; Tishya 3-12, Amog 2-18).

Under-14: St Joseph’s Boys’ High School: 126/7 in 20 overs (Dhruv 51, Arsalaan 25; Hardik 2-10) bt Bishop Cotton Boys’ School: 112/5 in 20 overs (Priyal 2-25).

Individual awards: U-16: Best all-rounder: Chinmay N A (SJBHS); Best batsman: Bhuvan J P (EISB); Best bowler: Bhuvan J P (EISB);U-14: Best all-rounder: Aryan Ranjan (BCBS); Best batsman: Yuvraj A (BCBS); Best bowler: Priyal Singh (SJBHS).
