Following the injunction of National Anti Doping Agency (NADA), in the Subrata Paul doping case, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has sacked Sreejith Kamal as team doctor.

Punith Kenchappa Giriyappa has been named as the doctor for the India under-23 team for the AFC U-23 Championship 2018 Qualifiers in Qatar from July 19.

“Punith shall join the Indian AFC U-23 contingent in Doha with immediate effect. He was part of the medical team for the 2017 edition of the Indian Premier League in Bengaluru and has also been a part of the medical team for the Pro Kabbadi League in Bengaluru in 2016,” an AIFF release said.

The NADA panel had ruled that the ingestion of terbutaline (Beta-2 Agonist) by Paul was not intentional. Paul had contended that he was administered the banned substance by the team doctor who submitted in writing to the panel that he had prescribed a medicine that contained a banned substance. NADA in its observation had directed AIFF to take strict action against the doctor. “AIFF is committed to strictly adhering to all the relevant anti-doping guidelines,” AIFF said.
